Move Inc.-Zillow Lawsuit Settled
Zillow agreed to pay $130 million to settle allegations that two of its executives stole trade secrets from Move Inc., operator of®. "We are pleased that the parties have reached an amicable resolution," NAR President Tom Salomone said in a prepared statement. NAR was a co-plaintiff in the suit, brought in 2014 against Zillow and the two executives, both former executives of Move. Move and NAR had accused the former Move executives, Errol Samuelson and Curt Beardsley, of stealing confidential documents and breaching their fiduciary duties to the company. 

Leadership Summit Registration Is Open
Registration is open for the 2016 Leadership Summit for 2017 leadership. Registration closes on June 30  or when capacity has been reached. Direct questions to Charlotte Wroblewski for registration, Andra Zarins for housing, and Rita Baldwin for program details.

Apply for Commercial Innovation Grant
July 31 is the deadline to apply for a commercial innovation grant under the second round for 2016. Grants of $500 to $2,500  were awarded to 17 associations in the first round.  

Live webcast: Preparing Now for Tax Time
Your members can hear from, and ask questions of, two accountants who work extensively with real estate clients on what to do throughout the year to maximize their tax position in a live webcast on Thursday, June 23, 2-3 p.m., Eastern time. Presenters are Peter Baker of Business Planning Group in Washington, D.C., and Linda de Marlor of Tax-Masters, Inc., Rockville, Md. Share registration link.

Overtime Rules Effect Salaries Up to $47,476
Eligible white collar employees who earn $47,476 a year or less are entitled to time and a half overtime pay for working more than 40 hours a week under rules the U.S. Department of Labor has released. The rules take effect December 1.

Owners Can Sue Upfront on Clean Water Ruling
Developers can sue the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to get a definitive ruling on whether their property is subject to regulation under the Clean Water Act without first having to go through an expensive and time consuming permit process, the U.S. Supreme court ruled unanimously. The decision is consistent with what NAR and the National Association of Home Builders sought in an amicus brief they filed with the court on behalf of property owners.
