Pending Home Sales Move Forward in February
Pending home sales rose solidly in February to their highest level in seven months and remain higher than a year ago, NAR says.

Webcast: Reverse Mortgages
NAR will host a live webcast about the unique characteristics of reverse mortgages on April 21, 2-3 p.m. Eastern time. Panelists, including an executive of a reverse mortgage servicer and a senior official of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association, will discuss the timelines and special requirements that real estate professionals should be familiar with if they handle the sale of a home that has one. Register.

Act by April 1 to Purchase Excess Insurance
As part of NAR's Professional Liability Insurance program, associations and multiple listing services can increase the coverage limits for certain areas of the program through the purchase of excess coverage. Excess coverage is available for purchase electronically or through forms provided in the annual mailing. Deadline is April 1. More info is on REALTOR.org. Also, ACE has completed its merger with CHUBB, so the name of the insurer for the NAR Professional Liability Insurance program is CHUBB. For more info, contact Amy Jones or Finley Maxson.

                                Updates
Foreclosure Prevention Extension Passes House
The U.S. House of Representatives on March 31 passed S. 2393, the Foreclosure Relief and Extension for Servicemembers Act of 2015, which extends the one-year protection from foreclosure in the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) through 2017. The Senate approved the legislation in 2015, and it is expected to be signed by President Obama. NAR was part of a coalition that urged the House to vote for the bill. Details.

Patent Trolls Exploiting Judicial Districts
NAR is trying to get lawmakers to crack down on patent trolls targeting certain judicial districts to improve their chances of winning infringement cases.

Internet Tax Fairness Needed
Congress must pass legislation allowing states to collect sales tax on purchases made through online retailers, or brick-and-mortar retailers will remain at a tax-collection disadvantage, NAR says.
